Okay, you brought home a bunny or have a litter of juniors and need to know if they are  boys or a girls. Here are a few tips...

Below are actual photos of the exposed sexual organs of a male and female dwarf rabbit. You should take a rabbit of your own and see if you can sex the bunny based on the pictures and information provided below. It takes practice to be able to sex a bunny especially if they are very young. It helps to ask an experienced rabbit owner to help you if you are just beginning to raise dwarf rabbits.

Buck/Boy

In this picture you can see how the opening of the sexual organ is round as you press down and put moderate pressure just above the genitals to expose the penis. This roundness is the tell tale sign that your bunny is a boy.

Doe/Girl

In this picture you can see a split down the middle of the exposed genitals. It isn't round like the above picture of the buck. It looks like it has been folded in half with a definite slit down the middle. This is definitely a female. If you have a female that is ready to be bred, she will have a purple color on the genitals as you press down to expose them. This is one way to tell if  your doe is ready to for breeding.
